CARIBBEAN AIRLINES

 

INTRODUCTION

 

The Caribbean airline was founded in the republic of Trinidad and Tobago on 27th September, 2006. The first flight ever took place on 1st of January back when they had 128 weekly departures to 10 destinations and just five Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. Caribbean airlines are the pioneer of the simplified one-way fare inclusive of taxes and fees that provide the valued customers with flexible fare combinations and extended stay options.

 

BRIEF HISTORY

Caribbean airlines began operation with a fleet of six Boeing 737-800 and one airbus A340-313, operating the London Heathrow route until May 2007. The airlines offered two classes of services, first/business class and economy class on both the Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

On October 2007, Philip Saunders, Star Alliance VP Commercial, was appointed the new Chief Executive of Caribbean Airlines. Subsequently, the airlines took over operations of Tobago express, its domestic arm at a cost of US$24 million with the intension to upgrade the fleet of Bombardier dash-8 Q300 to international standard and also adding new adding new Caribbean Destination to be served via this regional airline subsidiary.

In early 2016, the airline returned to its two Boeing 767-800 ER aircraft to the lesser, coinciding with termination of its only European route to London Gatwick Airport on 10 of January 2016, as the part of streamlining exercise to remove unprofitable routes.

In 2019, the airline posted its first profit of four million dollars.                                       

 

HUBS AND DESTINATION

Piarco International Airport, Cheddi Jagan International Airport, and Kingston Norman-Manley Airport these are the hub of Caribbean. Currently Caribbean Airlines operates flight to the Caribbean and South America including incorporated services normally operated by Air Jamaica.

INFLIGHT SERVICES AND AMENITIES

In Caribbean airlines meals are complimentary for all the passenger. The airline is provides Caribbean and western cuisine in all their inflight menu creation; all meals serves inflight is pork and peanut free. Economy class can enjoy complimentary non-alcoholic drinks while in business class alcoholic drinks are complimentary. Menus are updated regularly by the airlines.

Wi-Fi connectivity is not available in Caribbean airlines.

 

BAGGAGE

Each customer is allowed to carry 1 carry bag and 1 personal item such as Handbag, Backpack, Laptop bag or Briefcase on all the Caribbean airlines.

The dimensions and weight of the carry-on, including the wheels and handles are:

            Max size – 22 x 14 x 9 (56cm x 35cmx 23cm)

            Max weight – 10 KGs/22 LBs

REWARD PROGRAM

The caribbean airline has a reward program name as RBC Royal Bank this RBC Royal Bank specially, designed for those who travel frequently within, and from the Caribbean. You can earn miles every time you travel with Caribbean.

There are two ways to spend your miles: Use miles to book your reward tickets and to upgrade business class you can also enjoy service, exclusively and rewards when you attain silver, gold and executive gold status.

 

UNACCOMPANIED MINOR

 

Children who are less than 5 years of age must be accompanied by someone aged 16 years or older. Children aged 5-11 will be accepted for travel providing there is a pre-arranged unaccompanied minor service in place or they are accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or above.

Unaccompanied service must be requested at the same time the child flight is booked by the parents/guardian when calling reservations at your travel agent. Unaccompanied service must be only accepted for onward travel providing they are holding confirmed tickets and reservation on the other carrier.

A service charge is applied, $100 for each child and is a non-refundable ticket and child discount is not applied to booking for an unaccompanied minor, the travel must be on a direct continuous one-way travel.

5 steps meet & Assist policy for Direct/Non-stop/connecting flight:

  1.  The agent will accompany your child through the security check and proceed to the area gate.

  2. Once boarding is announced, your child will be escorted to the aircraft ahead of the other passenger to the passenger seat. Throughout the flight your child will be supervised by cabin crew members.

  3. Upon arrival at your child’s destination our member will help the child to disembark.

  4. The person meeting the child will be required to present valid photo ID identification before responsibility accepting for the child.

  5. For transit stops, transfer/connecting points and delayed flight, the unaccompanied is kept under our constant care and escorted through all government formalities as necessary.                   

FLYING WHILE PREGNANT

 

Any expectant mother can travel before 32 weeks and are allowed to travel with Caribbean airlines without the need of medical clearance. Between 32-35 weeks of pregnancy, a medical certificate is required from the customer attending physician, after 35 weeks of pregnancy, expectant mother will not be accepted to travel.

 

INFANT

 

In Caribbean airlines infant under two years of age are not require a separate seat, on board the aircraft, the accompanying adult will hold the infant for the duration of the flight. For infant not copying a seat travelling on international flight, Caribbean airlines charge the infant fare (10% of the adult fare) plus taxes and surcharge.

Passenger travelling with infant is allowed to take carry on a collapsible stroller /pushchair or an infant carrying basket or an infant car seat, subject to space availability in the cabin.

 

PET POLICY           

 

Certified, professionally trained service pets are free of charge in the Caribbean Airline’s aircraft cabins when accompanying a passenger with disabilities. Dogs are the only service animals accepted in the Caribbean airline aircraft. Service animals are not allowed to occupy a seat in the aircraft but will be accommodated on the floor space at the passenger feet.

Vaccination and documentations for all animals, including service animals may be required for persons travelling to international destinations. Additional documents may also be required depending on the country of entry.

 Customer travelling with emotional support or psychiatric dogs must provide a minimum of 48 hours advance notification to Caribbean airlines reservation.

 

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

 

Customer who directly purchased a ticket from Caribbean airlines by telephone through Caribbean airlines reservations, via Caribbean website www.caribbean-airlines.com, or in person at one of the Caribbean office, may change or cancel their flight reservation within 24 hours of purchasing a ticket without incurring a change or cancellation fee, on condition that the reservation was made at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date. In case of cancellation, full refunds will be issued in the original form of payment. In cases of changes to the flight reservation, differences in airfare applicable taxes, charges and carrier imposed charges will apply. The 24 hours refund policy is not applicable to domestic travel between Trinidad and Tobago.
